Strong Fiscal Discipline that Protects Taxpayers
As a local elected official, Pete lives by one core principle: it’s our money, not the government’s, and must be spent wisely and efficiently.

Here at home as a Supervisor, Pete fought to curb spending and produce budgets focused on priorities.  Now Pete will use his real-world business experience – and proven ability as an elected official – to bring to Harrisburg a strong sense of fiscal discipline that once again puts taxpayers first.

He’ll start by fighting to cut state spending 2% a year (except for education and debt service) over each year of his term – and use the nearly half-a-billion in savings for property tax relief.  He’ll call on leadership of both parties to return their discretionary spending surpluses to taxpayers.  Then Pete will sponsor legislation that makes it harder for politicians to raise taxes while fighting spending increases across the board.

Common Sense Property Tax Relief
As a Lower Makefield Supervisor, Pete voted against the biggest property tax increase in his township in the last 17 years.

His perspective as a local official has also shown Pete how the decisions made in Harrisburg can hurt local property taxpayers.  That’s why he will push for fundamental changes to the property tax system to make it more fair and affordable for all homeowners – while making sure the local taxes we pay stay right here in our local school districts.  He’ll work to change the state education formula to make sure our schools get back more of the tax dollars we send to Harrisburg.

Preserve Farmland and Open Space
As a Lower Makefield Supervisor, Pete has helped preserve and protect more than 1,000 acres of local farmland, and pushed for initiatives that curb growth and development and help reduce traffic.

Pete knows that preserving open space helps taxpayers, protects our environment, and enhances the quality of life we’ve come to enjoy in Bucks County.  In Harrisburg, he’ll build upon successful programs and also fight for changes to the state’s Municipal Planning Code to give local officials more tools to plan for smart growth that controls development and ensures a strong economic future.

Healthcare We Can All Afford
It’s simple: to make healthcare more accessible, we need to make it more affordable.  That’s why Pete will work for smart changes to the healthcare system.

As our Representative, he’ll lead the fight to eliminate frivolous lawsuits, expand insurance purchasing pools, pass medical mistake elimination legislation, increase healthcare tax credits and more.  These reforms will reduce costs for all Pennsylvanians and help make sure everyone can get the health coverage they need.

Create Jobs and Revive Our Economy
As a businessman, Pete has seen how Harrisburg stifles job creation with burdensome taxes and regulation.

He will fight for the things that spark economic revitalization and job creation, including vital changes to the state’s onerous business tax structure, reducing burdensome regulations and providing for worker re-training that gives people the skills they need to secure today’s hi-tech jobs.

A New Way On Energy
Pete knows that finding new energy solutions is critical for our future.

That’s why he introduced Lower Makefield’s first ever alternative energy initiative and authored the SmartEnergy initiative to help encourage the use of alternative energy.  In Harrisburg, he’ll fight to create entrepreneurial solutions – helping to solve our energy needs while creating jobs in new industries across the state.

Make Our Schools Even Better
As a parent who’s children were educated in our public schools, Pete knows our schools can do more for kids if they get the right kind of support – not just more money.

That’s why he’ll work to make sure our tax dollars are spent in the classroom instead of on bureaucracy.  He’ll also work to give local residents – instead of Harrisburg politicians – more control over local education decisions.  Pete promises annual visits to every school in his district to learn just what students, teachers and parents need to make our schools the best they can be.

Open and Honest Government
Building on the reforms of State Representative Dave Steil, Pete will continue to push for real reforms in our state government.

He will lead by example and won’t accept gifts from lobbyists or grant any kind of bonuses to his staff.  He’ll push for legislation and initiatives that makes government more open and accountable – such as an improved Open Records Law, enhanced online services that let taxpayers see how their money is being used and how their representatives are voting, and strengthening Pennsylvania’s Sunshine Law.

Meet Our Local Needs
As a local official, Pete is always available to listen to the needs and concerns of the people he represents.

As our State Representative, he will continue to listen to residents – along with ensuring that he and his staff are always available to help solve our problems with state government.  Pete is equally committed to addressing our local issues – from securing funding for important local community groups and projects to ensuring our quality-of-life continues to improve.
